Getting Started with a Survey

The NCEO can provide as much support as your company wants during every step of the survey process. We can help you specify the purpose of the survey, find appropriate questions, and custom write new ones. We can design a questionnaire and host it online. We'll analyze the results, send you a comprehensive report, and make sure you know what to do with your results.

You can learn more about the nuts and bolts of NCEO employee surveys by reading our overview booklet, Getting Started. It is a 15-page PDF document that comes in two versions:

Obtaining a List of Survey Items

The NCEO maintains two lists of survey items: one for companies with ESOPs and the other for companies with other forms of equity compensation. The ESOP list includes 147 questions and the equity compensation list contains 149. Some items are on both lists.

The text of the survey items and the benchmarking data is the protected intellectual property of the NCEO. Companies may obtain a list of available survey items by consenting to a confidentiality agreement. To receive a copy of the confidentiality agreement, you may:
  • Download the Getting Started book (see above). The agreement is on the final page.
  • Complete our online intake form at www.nceo.org/survey.
  • Contact the NCEO (Loren Rodgers: LRodgers@nceo.org or 510-208-1307).

Next Steps

The easiest way to determine whether the NCEO's employee survey is a good fit for your company is to talk with the NCEO's project director for the survey. Contact Loren Rodgers at 510-208-1307 or LRodgers@nceo.org. He will answer your questions about survey design, administration options, timeline, the results report, the comparison data, and pricing.
