Survey Methodology, Sample Results, and References

This section provides additional resources to companies interested in using employee surveys.

Methodology of NCEO Employee Surveys

The survey items available from the NCEO have been developed and tested over two decades. The majority of the items are are scored on a Likert scale indicating the degree to which a respondent agrees with the statement. The list of items includes both positively and negatively worded items. It also includes both "cultural observer" items, which ask respondents to serve as observers of the organizational culture in which they work, and "individual" items that ask respondents' personal experiences. The majority of the items were developed internally, but some draw from items developed by academic researchers.
