Room Reservations at the Conference Hotel

To reserve a room, either use the dedicated hotel Webpage for our conference, Hotel Reservations, or call 1-888-933-5363. When speaking with the reservations clerk, be sure to mention the code NCE and the name of the conference so that you receive our special conference room rates, in our block of rooms, of $189 for a single room or $199 for a double.(All rooms are subject to state and local taxes at 13.4%.) Rates are guaranteed, if rooms in our block are still available, through April 3, 2012. Reservations received after that date will be accepted on a space-and-rate-available basis. If the hotel sells out, or if you are interested in alternative accommodations, please check online sources or call the NCEO office (510) 208-1300 to obtain a list of nearby hotels with comparable rates.

Did you know that reserving a room in the conference block is important? The number of sleeping rooms in the conference hotel occupied by attendees affects overall conference costs and allows us to continue to keep registration fees affordable.

A Green Meeting

We continue to work on keeping our conference as green as possible. We try to purchase materials locally, if possible, and will offer refillable water bottles in place of disposable bottled water and limit excessive paper use by providing conference materials online and in a flash drive format (new!) for all attendees. The Hilton Minneapolis also has many green initiatives in place. Some of these include: body heat sensitive thermostats and door switches in guest rooms and meeting rooms; fluorescent light bulbs; water conserving fixtures in bathrooms; mattress covers made of bamboo "silk"; donation to local shelters of used shampoo, conditioner and lotion bottles; recycling throughout of paper, cans and bottles; food scraps or leftovers picked up by Second Harvest and processed into animal feed for local farmers.

Public Transportation and Parking

Metro Transit Hiawatha Line offers light rail service to 17 stations between Downtown Minneapolis and the Airport and beyond to the Mall of America. Fares range from $1.75 to $3.00 each way. The Nicolette Mall Station is the closest station, about five blocks from the Hilton. For further information on the light rail system, go to: http://www.metrotransit.org/rail/

Hotel self-parking is $13 per 24 hours self-park and $23 per day valet parking. Prices are subject to change.

Discover the Arts and Culture of Minneapolis

DowntownDuring your stay, explore the cosmopolitan city of Minneapolis, where outdoor life, sports, arts and culture abound. There is something for everyone in this vibrant city which offers a multitude of activities and cultural events. Choosing between the many eclectic museums found here, you can spend an afternoon visiting the beautiful Minneapolis Institute of Arts which features renowned artists such as Rembrandt, Delacroix, and Van Gogh or check-out cutting-edge art at the famed Walker Art Center. The city is known for theatre and other performing arts, as it is the third largest live theater market in the nation, so catch a comedy or drama at the Guthrie or the Orpheum Theatre, where the hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia will be playing April 24-29. See a production based on Mark Twain's Life on the Mississippi—on an actual showboat on the river! You won't have to look far to also find great live music, dance and other performing arts. So after you've attended breakout sessions and planned events, you will have ample opportunity for relaxation beyond the meeting rooms.
