These half-day preconference sessions offer an in-depth study of specific topics and an opportunity to interact for a longer period of time with the presenters. Session 1 covers compensation issues for both executives and staff, and Session 2 is about issues and solutions for internal fiduciaries in employee-owned companies. Both preconference sessions include time for table-talk discussions and problem-solving in small groups.
The preconference sessions run concurrently beginning at 1 pm in the afternoon on April 23, the day before the main conference begins. You must select either Session 1 or Session 2. Separate registration is required, as discussed at the bottom of this page.

Preconference Session 1: Compensation Issues for Privately Held Companies

This half-day session will provide both an overview of issues and examples of best practices and decision-making strategies as well as examining many different forms of compensation in privately held companies. Build effective base and incentive pay systems for everyone at your company, including executives.

Preconference Session 2: Issues and Solutions for Internal Fiduciaries in Employee-Owned Companies

This half-day session is designed for non-professional ESOP fiduciaries. The session begins with an overview of key issues, including the selection and training of trustees, core duties, and how to review the valuation report. The largest part of the session centers on scenarios that inside fiduciaries should be prepared to deal with. Topics will include a possible flawed valuation, executive compensation, have/have-not, administration errors, and acquisition offers. Panelists will work with participants in small groups to help them develop appropriate responses.
