How do you engage your employee-owners? Once engaged, how do you follow through? In this session, we will provide examples of engaging employee-owners and how to maintain momentum. We will present a case scenario of the Ownership Rewards Program at DCS Corporation. The concept is simple, and the more active employee-owners are in participating /supporting ESOP Communication Committee (ECC) events, the more ownership rewards they will receive, encouraging participation that fosters ownership and employee engagement.

Karla Langhus is a resource manager for DCS Corporation, a defense contracting firm in the Washington, D.C. metro area. She is currently the ESOP Communication Committee Chair at DCS Corporation, overseeing five regional members and providing ESOP communications to over 1,400 employees in 17 different locations. As a member of the ESOP Communication Committee since its inception 12 years ago, Karla has been able to find the right mixture of activities and events that impact the awareness of the ESOP 

Dallan is the director of culture and engagement at the NCEO in Oakland, CA. As a step toward leveraging the significant benefits that employee ownership offers, Dallan works closely with employee-owned companies to improve their communication and engagement practices by gathering and responding to employee feedback using the NCEO's Ownership Culture Surveys. Dallan is an avid speaker at both public and private company events on topics such as corporate (ownership) culture, employee engagement and involvement, communication, employee surveys, and effective leadership and team behaviors for driving innovation and better workplaces.
