Preconference Sessions

Employee Ownership Conference

Minneapolis, MN :: April 21–23, 2020 (preconference on April 20)

Preconference session

Join us on Monday, April 8, for the NCEO Annual Conference Preconference. These half-day sessions (two in the morning and three in the afternoon) allow you to explore specialized topics in depth.

Each preconference session requires a separate registration and has an associated cost not included in the main conference registration. You need not register for the main conference to attend a preconference session. Because the sessions are held simultaneously, you can only sign up for and attend one morning and/or one afternoon session.

Preconference Morning Sessions: Monday, April 8
Two of the five offered preconference sessions will take place in the morning. Each intensive session is 4 hours long, with a mid-morning break.

Making Your ESOP Sustainable for the Long Term

Sponsored by Chartwell
Sustainability has become one of the most talked-about ESOP issues. Much of the discussion on sustainability focuses on the repurchase obligation, a critical issue, but sustainability also is about culture, strategy, communication, leadership development, and governance. This half-day session will focus on all these topics to help companies thrive over the long term.

Effective ways to discuss the concepts (and the misconceptions) with employees, what information you must provide, and how often and in what ways you should repeat your efforts are just some of the topics that will be covered.

Corporate Governance at an ESOP Company

Sponsored by The Beyster Institute, University of California, San Diego
This half-day session explores ESOP company governance, which rests on a collaborative relationship among three partners: the board of directors; the ESOP fiduciary; and the management of the company. This governance structure is both the strength and the vulnerability of the ESOP model. In this session we will explain and explore this unique model through presentations and sharing of experience.
