ESOP companies shared their celebrations throughout Employee Ownership Month.

Winning Workplaces and the Wall Street Journal will hold their annual conference to honor the 15 top "winning workplaces" for 2008 in Chicago October 14-15. Last year, five of the winners were NCEO members, and employee ownership will again be on the agenda this year.

Over the last few years, one-third of the winners of the Winning Workplaces awards have gone to NCEO members and employee ownership companies (all the winning employee ownership companies have been members, it turns out). The process for self-nomination is open again.

Winning Workplaces is a nonprofit organization that, along with the Wall Street Journal, names the top 15 workplaces for companies with fewer than 1,000 employees. Five of the 2007 winners are employee-owned (all NCEO members), and some of the remaining 10 are considering setting up plans.
