June 26: Employee Ownership Day in the United Kingdom

Executive Director

On June 26, the United Kingdom observed Employee Ownership Day with celebrations in hundreds of companies across the country.

Employee ownership in the UK has been growing, with a 28% increase in the number of employee-owned companies in 2019, continuing an upward trend in which 50% of the growth in the field has happened since 2017, according to research posted by the Employee Ownership Association and conducted by the White Rose Centre for Employee Ownership.

Deb Oxley, OBE, the chief executive of the EOA, said, “This EO Day we have one clear message, ‘EO is the Answer.’ We know from our members that employee ownership has huge benefits for businesses and their employees, which has never been more important as we all grapple with the challenges of a global pandemic."
