The National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) is seeking a Director of Education who will be responsible for developing and improving employee ownership communication and education as well as ownership culture and employee engagement.  As such, this position plays a key role in portraying the mission and core values of the NCEO to its stakeholders, and contributes in positive ways to move the NCEO closer to its objectives. This position requires prior experience with employee ownership.

The NCEO is a private nonprofit organization, and our mission is to help employee ownership thrive. Founded in 1981, we have almost 3,000 members and an annual revenue from operations of more than $3 million. We project continued growth and expansion of our activities.

Internally, we have a collaborative culture in which all staff members contribute to shaping the course of the NCEO's work. We model ourselves as much as possible on best practices in employee-owned companies: staff members have a high level of autonomy, everyone has a role in setting our strategy, and our compensation system lets employees share directly in the success of the organization to the extent allowed by our nonprofit status.

The complete job description detailing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position can be found here

The position requires a strong understanding of how employee ownership, especially ESOPs, work, as well as abilities with the “soft” / psychological aspect of communication and culture. Our ideal candidate has experience with communicating about employee ownership as part of a communications committee, HR department, or a similar role, and experience in a related role as an employee-owner at an ESOP company is a compelling advantage.

The compensation for this position consists of base pay and variable income pay. The base pay salary range of $90,000 - $100,000 is commensurate with experience. The size of the variable pay is determined by the performance of the organization, so it cannot be determined in advance, but our target is $10,000 to $14,000 annually.

Employees also receive generous benefits, including 100% employer-paid health insurance premiums, an automatic 3% employer contribution to a 401(k) plan (after three months) and a home office stipend. The organization will cover the cost of travel, hotel, food, and beverage while on-site at meetings and events, with limits under our employee policy.

The NCEO is committed to equal opportunity employment. We make decisions based on employee qualifications and performance, not personal characteristics or association with any category protected by law. The NCEO values a diverse workplace and strongly encourages women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, people with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, foreign-born residents, and veterans to apply.

Applicants should browse our website (www.nceo.org) to learn more about us and employee ownership before applying. Please send your resume and a cover letter.  Your cover letter should be addressed to Executive Director Loren Rodgers and sent to [email protected] with the subject line “Director of Education.”

We will not consider applicants who fail to send both a resume and detailed cover letter outlining your experience and the attributes you would bring to this position.
