The National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) is the nation's leading organization for resources and information about employee ownership. Our work includes publications, conferences, surveys and research, seminars, webinars, training, outreach, and more. We have about 3,000 members, primarily consisting of employee-owned businesses, companies considering employee ownership, and service providers.
Position Summary
The NCEO is seeking a remote Marketing Director to own the execution of our email, paid, and organic programs while helping shape strategy for a mission-driven organization at the center of the employee ownership movement. The Marketing Director will collaborate across the organization to grow the NCEO’s reach, deepen engagement with the employee ownership community, and support our mission to help employee ownership thrive.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing Channel Execution
- Plan and execute the NCEO’s email marketing campaigns in HubSpot, including regular broadcasts, calendar-driven campaigns for events and new releases, and targeted nurture/drip campaigns
- Manage the organization-wide marketing calendar and coordinate campaign timing across channels, in collaboration with other teams
- Write email, social, paid ad, and landing page copy, drawing on existing messaging framework and brand voice
- Develop and manage paid search (Google Ads, etc.) and paid social advertising (LinkedIn, etc.) strategy and campaigns
- Manage and grow the NCEO’s organic social media presence
- Assist in developing and optimizing website conversion paths; manage lead magnets, gated content offers, and conversion assets
Marketing Strategy, Planning, and Measurement
- In collaboration with our marketing agency, develop and implement new marketing strategies for the NCEO across email, social, and search
- Partner with Growth and Member Engagement (GME) team to develop marketing-sales/service alignment and orchestrated email strategy. Jointly develop messaging frameworks and value propositions for different audience segments, with strategies to effectively connect with each NCEO audience at every stage of their engagement with the NCEO.
- Partner with Events team to effectively market and grow the NCEO’s events, including our major spring annual conference and fall NCEO Forum
- Partner with Education team on content marketing, content planning, and design/publishing needs
- Own ongoing reporting on marketing program performance; use data to identify opportunities for improvement. Partner with the Director on reporting infrastructure.
- Build campaigns, segments, workflows, and smart content in HubSpot; partner with Director on CRM architecture (lifecycle stages, lead scoring, custom properties)
- Manage budgets for marketing and paid media
Required Experience
- 4–7 years of B2B or nonprofit marketing experience, with personal ownership of email, paid, and/or organic channels
- Strong writing ability across email, ad, and social formats
- Hands-on experience executing in HubSpot (or comparable platform like Marketo, ActiveCampaign) including building emails, workflows, lists/segments, landing pages, etc.
- Experience planning and running paid search and/or paid social campaigns, with accountability for performance metrics
- Track record of using data to evaluate and improve marketing programs
Ideal candidates will also have at least some of:
- Significant HubSpot experience
- Event marketing experience
- Execution of marketing strategies using B2B marketing funnel concepts (lead lifecycle, MQL/SQL handoff, attribution)
- Familiarity with Google Analytics or similar
- Experience in nonprofit, membership, association, or other mission-driven organizations with a developed marketing function
- Experience marketing to professional/practitioner audiences (HR, finance, executives)
- Background or interest in employee ownership
NCEO Organizational Expectations
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and other staff work meetings as needed
- Attend the annual conference, other events as needed, and provide staff support (occasional travel is required)

Travel Expectations - For the purpose of attending and contributing to conferences and other events, it may be necessary to travel by auto, air or other such transportation methods.
