Lindsay Shafer

Lindsay Shafer serves as Vice President of ESOP Communication Services at Blue Ridge, where she leads the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives designed to support and elevate the employee ownership experience for clients. With deep expertise in employee engagement, public speaking, and strategic planning, she guides a team responsible for crafting impactful presentations, learning tools, and digital content that foster a strong culture of ownership and understanding across diverse employee groups.

As a trusted advisor to clients, Shafer helps align ESOP communication strategies with broader business goals and corporate culture. Her work includes delivering educational presentations, facilitating employee ownership events, mentoring internal team members, and contributing to marketing and business development initiatives.

With more than 20 years of experience as a facilitator, trainer, and project manager, Shafer has partnered with employee-owned companies, nonprofits, government agencies, and educational institutions. Her background includes specialized expertise in ESOP communication and education, leadership development, inclusion and belonging, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Blue Ridge, she worked with an organization development consulting firm, helping clients enhance culture, strengthen leadership, and deepen employee ownership practices.

Matt Hancock

Matt Hancock helps organizations develop ownership cultures that are inclusive, resilient, and innovative. In addition to employee-owned firms, Matt has extensive experience, as a consultant and social entrepreneur, working with labor-management partnerships and non-profit organizations in the United States and the European Union.

Prior to joining Praxis, Matt co-founded Chicago Tech Academy (ChiTech), Chicago’s first technology-focused high school. Matt began his career in Bologna, Italy, where he earned a Master’s in Cooperative Economics from the University of Bologna. He authored a book, Compete to Cooperate, about the cooperative movement there. He holds a BA in history from Skidmore College, a Green Belt in Lean/Six Sigma and is the past Chair of The ESOP Association’s Ownership Culture Committee. Matt has served on several non-profit and for-profit Boards of Directors, including the Freelancers Insurance Company, a for-profit, social purpose health insurance company.
